Eve on the Ave
Ring the new year with the DDA on December 31st from 9pm to 12:30am. Come to Jackson's only New York style celebration with a ball drop from the top of city hall and a magical fireworks display at the stroke of midnight. Fall DDA Day / Christmas Parade / Window Display Contest
The annual Christmas Parade is Friday November 18th @ 6pm in Downtown Jackson (For more info on the Parade click here).
The days are getting shorter, the wind is feeling colder and winter is in the air. Although we have unpredictable weather, it’s time for the winter events. Discover Downtown Again (DDA) Day - For the Holidays is here. Last year, DDA Day - For the Holidays was a huge success as part of a Downtown Holiday Kick-off Weekend, following the Christmas Parade. This year’s Holiday DDA Day will be taking place from 11-2 on Saturday, November 19th, directly following the night of the parade again.
Attendees will receive a Santa Map encouraging them to visit as many businesses as possible. Here is a sample of what is happening at downtown businesses - location, demonstrations, live music, giveaways, specials, art projects, and many other winter themed winter activities.
Plus, the Santa Mailbox is back! The larger-than-life Mailbox is made just for sending letters to the North Pole. Kids of all ages will be able to write a preformatted letter to Santa and mail it at Blackman Park, located at the corner of Michigan Avenue and Jackson Street in Downtown Jackson. Blank letters to Santa will be distributed at the Christmas Parade and available during DDA Day.
Summer Planting Day Information coming soon! Cruise In Cruise Ins have become a very popular and anticipated event in Jackson, attracting hundreds of classic cars, antiques, street rods, and more, to the Downtown streets. Live entertainment, photo booth, radio broadcasts, and a vendor area with food and merchandise will also fill the Downtown. A "Best in Show" winner will be chosen at each Cruise In and all cruisers can enter to win DDA Gift Certificates! In addition to the cars and entertainment on the street, many Downtown restaurants feature entertainment while merchants offer sales and specials in their stores. Street closings, directing the cruisers to the appropriate parking spots, can be found in the column on the left side of this page.

Discover Downtown Again featuring Artist Walking Tour
The Jackson Downtown Development Authority (DDA) invites everyone to Downtown Jackson to join in on the fun and exciting activities during “DDA” Day on May 7th from 11am to 2pm. Discover Downtown Again “DDA” Day with Artist Walking Tour is focused on featuring all the unique shops & destinations offered in the Downtown through demonstrations, live music, historic tours, raffles, contests, special sales and some of the best local artists. Artists from all genres and styles will be located in participating businesses. DDA Day is a chance to find out what you have been missing in Downtown Jackson and a change to vote for your favorite artist! Stop by Bucky Harris Park at the corner of S. Jackson and Michigan Avenue in Downtown Jackson for a list of participating businesses and artists. Stroll through the downtown shops and vote on the art. Business will have an activity, raffle, sale or special offer. Artists' work will also be available for purchase. Vote for your favorite artists by 2 pm where top three artists will be announced in Bucky Harris Park. 1st place receives $250 cash, 2nd place $150 and 3rd place $100!
Picnic in the Park Lunchtime Concert Series
Come downtown every Tuesday in July and August from 12-1 pm to take a break with local musicians who will entertain with tunes to relax to, dance to and eat to! Bring your blanket and lunch and join local musicians in Bucky Harris Park, on the corner of Jackson Street Michigan Aveneue. This is a great opportunity and convenient location to take a moment away from your office and meet us for a Picnic in the Park. Picnic in the Park is brought you by Brandon Warner State Farm. Taste of Jackson AUGUST 20TH 12:30 – 3:00: PM The Taste of Jackson, Food, Fashion, Art and Fun for the whole family, scheduled for Saturday, August 20, from 12:30 - 3:00 p.m. on Mechanic Street, between Washington and Cortland in Downtown Jackson. This is the summertime event you will not want to miss! Come taste food samples from restaurants, caterers and food purveyors, while mingling among local artist as they display and sell their work. At 1:00 p.m. a fashion show presented by the Hodge Podge Shop will model the latest fashions for school, work or just hanging out. You’ll be surprised how reasonable these fashions are! Cost for food samples are just $2.00 a ticket and can be purchased the day of the event. Scarecrow Row is Downtown Jackson's most ghoulish event. This year, the DDA has teamed up with the Cascades Humane Society for a dogs and cats theme. Teams in schools, non profit organizations, and businesses each build scarecrows to hang on downtown lamp posts. Registration is $30 and includes the scarecrow frame. Jammin' in Jackson Jammin' in Jackson is a FREE event, which takes place in the heart of Downtown Jackson located on the corner of Michigan Avenue and S. Jackson Street in Bucky Harris Park at 5-7 pm on select Thursdays throughout the summer. Stroll in after work, ride your bike, or bring your family and enjoy free, live, local entertainment! Holding Events Downtown
The City of Jackson is fortunate to have many varied and beautiful parks and friendly streets and neighborhoods, all of which provide wonderful venues at which to hold Special Events such as parades, fitness walks/runs, etc. The City Clerk's Office makes every possible effort to assist event organizers in receiving assistance from City departments and approval from the City Council. The City of Jackson Event Policy and Application was created to promote a uniform procedure in receiving permission to hold Special Events at locations under the jurisdiction of the City of Jackson.
