JACKSON, MI — There is light at the end of the tunnel for the opening of downtown Jackson’s newest bar, The Dirty Bird, 140 W. Michigan Ave.

The much-anticipated bar’s soft opening — by invitation only for family and friends — is Tuesday, Sept. 6, according to owner Randy LeMaster.

The Dirty Bird then is closing on Sept. 7 to address any changes, and will open to the public Thursday, Sept. 8, LeMaster said.

Patrons will find 40 beers on tap, with rotating brews coming in based on the season and customer feedback, LeMaster said.

“The craft beer market is big right now, so we are taking advantage of that and bringing it to Jackson,” he said.

A list of the beers currently on tap is available at taphunter.com.

As you might expect, the main food on The Dirty Bird’s menu is chicken wings, LeMaster said. Hand-breaded chicken tenders, 14 sauces with a flavor of the month and homemade macaroni and cheese also are featured dishes, he said.

A food menu is being posted on the bar’s Facebook page during the week leading up to the opening.

The bar’s outdoor patio seating will bring life to the neighboring alley, said LeMaster, who also owns The Chase Sports Bar, 105 E. Michigan Ave.

The Dirty Bird is open from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday and Tuesday, 11 a.m. to midnight Wednesday and Thursday and 11 a.m. to 1 a.m. Friday and Saturday. The bar is closed on Sunday.
